FAQ's

Where is the event location?

The start and finish of each stage as well as both evenings Garden Party is on private farm land at the Nick Sanders Expedition Centre, Abercegir, Machynlleth, SY20 8NR.

What’s in the name?

E + electric

Giro = around

Eryri = is Welsh for Snowdonia

What’s it all about?

Riders arrive Thursday evening for an evening of quite fine dining and entertainment. Already it's a Garden Party' atmosphere. After breakfast we ride two stages over two days around Cader Idris, the Bwlch y Groes and the beautiful mountains of southern Snowdonia. Uniquely there will be random entertainment on the course but especially organised for the Friday and Saturday evenings at the event base.

What is the e-Giro Garden Party?

After you ride each days stage you return to a garden party atmosphere entertained by local musicians, guest speakers, film on the small cinema, cream teas served as we listen to the Summer Jazz Band or the Stone Roses virtuoso guitarist Aziz Ibrahim. It's a small event where food will be provided by high quality private vendors catering for all food discernabilities.

Are their facilities on site?

Here at the Expedition Centre, also known as Tyntwll Farm, we have run motorcycle festivals since 2016. We have beautifully equipped campsite showers and toilets. A small private restaurant, small cinema, professional kitchen, fully staffed bicycle bar with local ales, summer PIMMS, soft drinks and cocktails.

Are there facilities on the ride?

You’ll be passing through villages with local stores, and in the small towns of Machynlleth, Dolgellau and Aberdyfi we’ll direct you to the best coffee shops and eateries we know. Two charging stations will be available en route along with basic first aid. Cycling helpers will be there to assist in case of punctures or minor mechanical issues.

Anything happening on the route?

Yes, apart from the evening fun, during the daily ride we’re having a sort of 'linear party.' Musicians and entertainers will be performing in extraordinary locations on our route. A singer next to a cattle grid or gate. It's sort of the 'festival section' of the route. It’s a party on the move so don’t be surprised if you see a Celtic band playing next to a 3000 year old Standing Stone or a harpist overlooking Barmouth Bay. Free hydration at designated checkpoints.

What about competitions?

There will be several fun cycling competitions on the course - slow cycling, gate to gate short time trial, best photograph taken and more. All points count towards an overall prize.

Everyone Gets a Medal

How do we book?

There is one ticket choice of £120. Book through the website. Ticket includes participation on both stage expedition rides, entry into the farm for both garden party evenings and free camping on the Expedition Centre land.

What about parking?

At the Centre we have limited parking of around 20 cars but 500 metres away our companion farm has room for a further 40 cars and tents. Cars will be charged £15, RV’s £20, however, car parking is free if booked with a cabin, hut or glamping tent.

Can we book Cabins, Shepherds Huts and Glamping Tents?

At the Expedition Centre all our available cabins, huts and tents are available on our website. 750 metres away in the same valley our companion sites also have beautiful accommodation that needs to be booked separately to the ticket.

Can we ride alone?

You start alone or in small groups and ride to the official start on the e-Giro route. You then continue onto the ‘festival section’ of the ride where checkpoint marshals are there to assist you.

Will we be riding in a big group?

No. Riders will be set off by our marshalls at short intervals and also taking slightly different directions and different roads. This will give the impression of riders reaching Cader Idris from several directions and will spread out the group.

Is the route busy?

There are short sections of open road, but we are in West Britain so the small 'A' roads are quieter than you might be used to. Much of the ride is along back roads, particularly the route on the mountain road where there is hardly any traffic, just the sound of the wind and the baying of sheep. The beautiful route along the coast from Tywyn to Happy Valley has some cycle paths but it's back road riding wherever possible.
