7th October
The journey will break for a short while while I sort out what to do about the new difficulties in Israel. Updates to follow.
Meanwhile I made a loosely edited short film about visiting the Acropolis, such a proud building. The Greeks have an immense history going back to classical times and I haven't found a motorist that hasn't been accommodating (other than one beligerent taxi driver!)
Had I not been delayed by battery issues (we're struggling to get the batteries for the bike shipped to the Middle East) and two lovely days break with my wife Dr Caroline, I would have been cycling in southern Israel on the road to Eilat to cross the border over to Aqaba. I think I would have missed the Supernova Festival massacre but you can never be sure of the safety within the immediate vicinity. Yet I've done this route several times in the past, most recently on my Tenere 700 less than a year ago. A perfectly safe region. When I start crossing Jordan shortly I will introduce previous journeys to compare and contrast.
Stay safe Nick :)
Nick give it a wide berth, Ver will never be peace in the middle east
Not while they,ve got a belly button.😢
Yes, take care out there. Great mileage & beautiful coastal routes!
Stsy safe matey
What a shame!! Why do humans have to keep fighting? Do we never learn...
Only negative consequences. Get over there and sort them out Nick with your philosophical democratic ways! Good luck and look forward to see how your journey pans out! 👋
